New Beginnings Recovery Homes

Along the Beautiful Gulf Coast in Pensacola, Florida

History and Administration

New Beginnings was established in 1999 in response to a regional need for a comprehensive recovery program for women struggling with the disease of addiction.  Nearly everyone associated with New Beginnings is in recovery themselves--including the founders--and have extensive firsthand experience with the disease of addiction and the attendant issues and difficulties.  Our management team is principled, credentialed, knowledgeable, and uniquely situated to offer the kind of recovery services that lend understanding, empathy and support for clients willing to help themselves within the confines of a safe, secure and sober environment.

Most often, our referrals derive from Treatment Centers that place clients into our program following an intensive 3-4 week medically supervised course of treatment, and who thereafter desire to extend their continuum of care in a long-term residential setting.  Other referrals frequently come from family members, employers, the judiciary, therapists, clergy, and social service agencies.

New Beginnings is a private not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded and operated by individuals in recovery.  We enjoy certification as a Member of United Way of Escambia County.  We have established effective working relationships with the Department of Children and Families, Lakeview Center of Baptist Hospital, Florida Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, Northwest Florida Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependency, the Family Intervention Network of Northwest Florida, the Community Drug & Alcohol Council, W.I.S.E. Women's Transition Programs, Escambia County Area Transit, and many regional Treatment Centers.

New Beginnings is a member of the Florida Alcohol & Drug Abuse Association, Inc., the United Way of Escambia County, Inc., the United Way Education Through Communication, the United Way Association of Agency Directors, the Bay Area Regional Food Bank, the Florida Sheriff's Association, and Faces & Voices of Recovery.  We maintain registration and authority from the Internal Revenue Service (501(c)(3)), the Florida Secretary of State, the Florida Department of Revenue, and the Florida Division of Consumer Services.  We have been authorized for funding by United Way, the State of Florida, the City of Pensacola, the Escambia County Council, the Department of Children and Families, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Kugelman Foundation, the Gulf Power Foundation, the National Cristina Foundation, Lend-A-Hand Pensacola, WorkForce Escarosa, and many local associations and churches.

Our management team includes licensed counselors, spiritual mentors, 12-step fellowship sponsors, and a network of other community resources.  We are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of community-based professionals.
